Self Publishing Marketing Updates

Happy New Year Everyone! First I would like to update all readers on some of the book promotional aspects that have been put into action concerning my debut novel Swept into the Darkness. I launched a book blast hosted by Promotional Book Tours that started on December 21st and ended on January 6th. The blast was a great success and gave my book the appropriate exposure. Next on the promotional agenda will be a giveaway hosted by Goodreads. That will take place starting this Monday. In addition my book tour is in the early stages of the planning process and will begin February 13,2013. That event will also be hosted by Promotional book tours. During Valentines week I will be participating in a special book promotional event where Swept into the Darkness will be featured on several blogs, a group giveaway will be included in the promotion. I have more good good news. My Facebook author page now has over 500 LIKEs and I am so happy that everyone has been so supportive. Fall/Winter Movie Preview Introduction “The Apparition”

I checked out my sources and it seems like this fall and winter is going to be great season for new movies.  There are so many good movies to be released that I decided to do a series of movie previews on my site.  As the summer officially comes to a close I get geared up for the fall and expect a nice array of horror flicks to be released in theaters and on DVD.  A few movies to put you in the scary mood are first and foremost a movie called The Apparition, starring some familiar faces from Twilight, Harry Potter and Captain America: The First Avenger.  This movie tells an interesting story about a group of students that set out to prove that supernatural and paranormal events can occur if you create them in your mind and believe in the idea that you created. Check out the trailer below.  This movie is to be released August 24th.  Just by watching the trailer I am sold on the whole idea and really hope that it does a decent job in theaters.  For those die-hard horror fans that appreciate the genre, I think that you will give it a shot and be happy that you did.  Enjoy the trailer and Happy Reading and Writing!! Summer Blues

Well Summer is still here, which is a good thing, but I will be excited for the fall to arrive so I can resume with my book promotion, start the process of publishing the paperback version of Swept into the Darkness, the first book in my Chronicles of the Celestial series.  After the the release of the paperback I will be doing everything that comes with the release of a new book.  I did finish writing the second book in the series which is now titled Swept into Betrayal.  There were some major changes that I made with some of the characters and events so the name change fits into what is going on with the storyline. I found a few new prospects when it comes to book promotion, and I plan on using all the tools I can get my hands on to get the word out.  Now It is about increasing book sales.  The book is indeed a great and exciting read and there is no reason why readers would not fall in love with the series.  I am excited to start plans with the upcoming tour as well.  I did some reasearch and noticed that there are many good companies willing to host my tour.  As of now though, I have not decided on which company will host my book tour.  My book was published in June and there is still just as much work left to do now than ever.

As I continue to recoup from childbirth and settle into motherhood, I learn something new everyday from my baby.  As I write this, I have to stop and check on him since I hear him making noise…… It so so nice to finally have my son out in the real world but I must admit it is very hard.  Even with lots of help from my dear husband, mother and mother in law I am exhausted beyond words.  I don’t know how I am walking at this point.  I see the purpose of full-time, live in nannies.  I applaud all those that help to take care of babies and children for a living.

Despite everything that has happened over the past few months, and weeks that has brought me complete happiness, being in the house for so long has taken a toll on me.  I think it is making me more tired just being inside.  The weather is really too hot to take the baby out, so staying in under the Ac is the best option.  This is the first summer that I have had to remain indoors for most of the summer.  I still have a couple more weeks before I am able to drive again.  This last thing I did was see TDKR which was wonderful.  It made me appreciate Christian Bale even more as an actor and person after the movie theater tragedy.  This weekend I am looking forward to my first glass of wine in almost a year.  I know I have been ranting for some time, but I hope that this month I will have the chance to have some freedom and venture off out somewhere else besides the movie theater.

Still Reading Deadlocked.  Actually had to stop my evening reading due to my new schedule, but I plan to resume this weekend.

Creating Balance

Well Everybody.. I am back!  Back as a completely new person, with a new role…   My little bundle of joy entered the world on July 5th.  Its been quite an exciting challenge adjusting to motherhood and recouping from the delivery.  This is actually the first time I have sat in front of my laptop in weeks.  I am not really sure how long it has been but to tell you the truth it feels really good to be blogging again.  It feels great just to get my thoughts down and fingers back into the flow of writing.  My book promotion plan has been put on hold until I can get my son on an official schedule.  I know I have mentioned the schedule before but it is harder than I thought it would be.  My time really revolves around him at this point.  As far as my book is concerned I will be sticking to my original plans which includes submitting my press release, promoting through goodreads, twitter , Facebook and all of the other sites that encourage self publishing.  The paperback will be released early fall which will also be the beginning of my book tour launch.  I need to obtain some book reviews.  I will start the process of that as well.

Swept into the Darkness Video trailer

I finally finished my video book trailer and it is officially up and running live on YouTube.  It is actually a lot work to create something like that on your own and I am very pleased with the end result. The entire project was a lot of fun and I was able to tap into a form of creativity that I really never touched on before.  I have a link to the Trailer on my Book Page but I will also provide the link here so that if anyone wants to see it they can.  This trailer represents the mood of the journey that my main character Sydney London takes throughout book one in the series.  Just by watching the trailer you can walk through the various points of her experience.  Her supernatural abilities, and the challenges of being different as a child.  Her adulthood and the idea that she is on the verge of finally excepting that she will always be different.  Sydney’s encounter with other supernatural beings and the concept that she is willing to do anything to save someone she loves is something else that she must deal with, in addition to falling in love and making an attempt to save the world from destruction.  This young woman has a lot on her plate not to mention coping with a past that just will not stop haunting her. Constant Changes

My life has been filled with constant changes over the past nine months, but especially over the past few weeks.  I’ve been so busy with preparing for the arrival of my son, my book promotion and writing the next book in the series that I hardly have time to jot down whats going on in my blog.  First of all at this point in my pregnancy I am ready to have my baby and somewhat return to normal.  The nights are the worse for me.  It is so hard to get a decent nights sleep.  My son plays and wiggles around like he is having a party or something.  It starts around ten.  He will settle down for an hour or so and by midnight he is all over the place.  I will watch tv sitting up and close my eyes when I can, before I know it, it is around four in the morning.  This is the time when he really comes alive with so much energy.  It seems like the best sleep I get is in the latter morning hours between five and eleven.  I’ve done a lot of research and most of the books and internet sites say the same thing.  They say that most babies in the womb start the show their newborn patterns during this time in the pregnancy.  If that is true I will be working hard to put my baby on a schedule as soon as I can.

When it comes to my book Swept into the Darkness, I am doing everything I can to get noticed as a serious author.  I am now a goodreads author and have my book and profile all set up.  It is still a work in progress.  I never realized how challenging promoting yourself on goodreads could be.  Its one obstacle at a time but I will do my best to make it work.  I published the book through KDP so now my book is up live and available for purchase on Amazon Kindle.  I am so very happy that worked out because I was a little worried when I found out that smashwords was having some distribution issues with Amazon Kindle.  The links to purchase my book can be found on my Book Page on this site.  I am still waiting for Barnes and Noble to have my ebook stocked and available.  I have no idea what the delay is but I am getting very frustrated over waiting and checking the status and not seeing my book up.  It is so very important to have my book available to the major channels so that everyone has the chance to get it on whatever reading device they have.

Book two in my Chronicles of the Celestial series is progressing very well and at this point I will be able to soon start entering it into my laptop.  I will be working on preparing book one for the paperback edition to be released early this fall, so I am looking forward to all the new changes, improvements and developments that this summer will bring inaddition to the fall.

“The Holidays”

The Holidays are always a busy time in many people’s lives.  With the hustle and bustle of hunting for the perfect gift to traveling on the road near and far, this time of year can be very stressful.  I think that as time goes on and our lives continue to evolve, we as a society in general have lost the true meaning and purpose of what the holidays really mean.  A generation or two ago the holidays did not mean going out and standing in line to wait for the Apple Store to open so you could purchase one item for four or five hundred bucks.  It wasn’t about competing to catch the earliest Wal-Mart sale or bumbrushing others to get the last Playstation 3 in Toys R Us.  Christmas was not about having our husbands and boyfriends planted on the sofa all day watching a bunch of men try to make a touchdown.  The Holidays were a time for family to gather around, fellowship and reconnect with each other, to go to Mass or what ever services you attend, to serve, worship and sing praises to God.  The Holidays were a time to truly be thankful for what you have spiritually.  It was not about showing off, or shoving money to a charity just because you had to for tax reasons. The holidays meant sharing and giving to those in need and making it last all year round not only during Christmas.  The world has lost so many things but actually believes that we are heading forward instead of backward.  We need to get back to our roots and rediscover the true meaning behind  “The Holidays”.
