Mutiny, directed by Jean-François Richet and starring Jason Statham, is a fast-paced action thriller that follows bodyguard Cole Reed after he witnesses the murder of his powerful billionaire employer and is framed for the crime.
Reed’s path takes him aboard a container ship as he searches for the truth about who is responsible for the murder and the conspiracy surrounding it.
While piecing together the evidence, Reed discovers a human trafficking operation aboard the ship and vows to save the innocent people caught in the middle.
Reed charges his way to the top in only the way Jason Statham can. This adrenaline-fueled flick also has a tenderness that comes through in its solid plot development. Jason Statham and leading lady Annabelle Wallis were great together, although I felt the element of romance between them was underdeveloped.
The fight scenes were filled with action and moments of horror, while the special effects were frighteningly realistic. The costumes and set designs were eye-catching, and the stunts were fun and executed with great artistic athleticism.
The film moves at a very fast pace, but overall, it does not disappoint. For Jason Statham fans anticipating some summer thrills and kills, Mutiny delivers. It’s a good action film that leaves you wanting more.
I gave this movie 3½ stars.
