The Journey of Rick Grimes all started with him being an average husband, father and Georgia Sheriff Deputy as he went out into the field to serve and protect the citizens of King County. He and his partner Shane answered a routine call to track down a perp in a stolen car. As Rick and Shane engage in attempting to subdue him a shootout erupts, and Rick is Shot in the process. This injury would change the normal path that Rick pursued while putting him in a coma for at least 6 months. When Rick awakens, he finds himself in a hospital bed hooked up to an IV and machines that are no longer working. As he manages to make sense of what’s happening, he realizes that the hospital has been abandoned for some time. He stumbles upon a set of double doors and written on the outside is “Don’t Open Dead Inside.” Unaware of what that really means, Rick manages to get out of the hospital. His first instinct is to locate his wife and son. He sets out on foot to his neighborhood and then his house only to find out the Lori and Carl are not there. Rick tries to convince himself that what he is experiencing is not real but things get worse as he continues to discover the truth. As Rick tries to gather himself outside of his home, he is knocked in the head by a stranger that would later become a friend along the journey.

Morgan Jones helps Rick and explains to him what is happening. Rick stressed the importance of how he must find his family immediately. Rick then takes Morgan and his son Duane with him to the local sheriff station where he arms himself with ammunition and other supplies. Morgan Duane and Rick eventually go their separate ways but Morgan and Rick attempt to continue to keep the lines of communication open on a walkie-talkie. Rick soon finds himself among the ruins of a once and vibrant city of Atlanta. It is there where he meets Glenn Rhee and a group of local survivors. The relationship bond begins to form as they take Rick back to a so-called safe haven which is a camp in the woods not far from Atlanta. It is there where he is unexpectedly reunited with his wife Lori and his son Carl as well as his best friend and partner Shane.

From there on, Rick’s Journey turns him into a Hero and a Leader. The group he encounters from Atlanta follows him to the CDC as he searches for answers to what this thing is and why the world has fallen apart. From the devastation of the events at the CDC, Rick leads the group to a quaint little farm which stems from the events of his son Carl being shot accidentally. The trip to the farm leads to loss but also to a road of remarkable strength. Once the farm fades and is overrun by Walkers. Rick must now face the Zombie Apocalypse with a pregnant Lori while Carl is on the mend from his gunshot. Broken by the separation of the group, Rick finds solace in the wisdom of Hershel as he soon finds himself back reunited with his family and friends. They set off to find a more secure place as they are on the road for the majority of Lori’s pregnancy. Rick finds the prison and makes an attempt to create a safe haven for his family and the people around him. After they begin to settle in, and Rick finds the will to manage the issues at the prison, he ends up dealing with the unexpected death of his wife as well as the birth of a little girl that he later realizes is not his biological daughter. He is riddled with grief and regret over his attitude with Lori. He goes into a depressed state but eventually comes out of it. He runs into the Woodbury leader, The Governor and with much determination faces off with him. After the Governor is subdued, the group is out on the road again. Separated again, Rick, Carl, and Michone set off to a place called Terminus. Lead into another trap where killers, psychos, and cannibals dwell. Rick reunites with everyone and meets some new friends along the way, as they work together to take down the people of Terminus. The road is filled with many threats, seen and unseen.  As the group gathers themselves in search of a new place. Rick and the group run into a man named Aaron where he brings the group to Alexandria. This is the place where he begins to build his life up again until he realizes that Deanna, the first leader of Alexandria made a deal with the Saviors. Obligated to continue the deal to keep people safe, Rick finds himself in an uncompromising position until he discovers his spark to fight back again. Death is on the rise among some of Rick’s closest friends. He is later faced with another brush with death as Carl is killed and comes to grips that the war against Negan and the saviors are the only way to survive the world. The war is won but as time passes Rick takes on some of Morgan’s “all life is precious” sayings as he spares Negan’s life. Rick spends his time rebuilding civilization with Michone and the others.

Rick has dealt with unspeakable violence, by witnessing the dead walk the Earth. By losing his wife, and so many people that he has cared for including losing his only son Carl. By being attacked, traded, by maniacs, Wolves, cannibals, psychopaths and other bloodthirsty villains. Rick has survived, persevered and been determined throughout his journey. I can’t imagine what life is going to be like without him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a strong character as Rick. Now as he has entered another trial and tribulation period in his life, we must step back and think is this really the end?  Now we know the answer is no. After everything that has happened with his new injury, We know that Jadis helped him to survive. Rick Grimes has evolved into a superhero. All superheroes have a weakness, but superheroes don’t die. Even Superman came back from the dead, and I must say that Rick is TWD’s Superman. He will forever be deemed as television’s greatest man turned superhero. Rick will always be loved and always be part of The Walking Dead. Rick Grimes will forever be loved and adored. Thanks Andy!!!

Marvel’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy and directed by Ruben Fleischer tells the story about an investigative journalist named Eddie Brock who is on the verge of exposing some dangerous and incriminating information about a company lead by Carlton Drake. In the process, Brock is exposed to a powerful extraterrestrial substance, which transforms him into a powerful creature known as  Venom. Venom/Brock, who is also known as a symbiote wrecks havoc upon the city as he tries to protect himself from the very people that claim to want to help others. Brock’s life is turned upside down as he tries to make sense of what is happening to him.  In the process of him trying to protect himself and the one he loves he loses everything that he has worked so hard to gain.

Venom is a great movie. The storyline works well, but I think it does conflict with the past knowledge of the fact that Spiderman and Venom are enemies. This stand-alone film eventually portrays Venom as one of the good guys, so I am assuming that Marvel must have another Spiderman movie in works that will go back and fill in the gaps among these two characters. The special effects were great, and the character design was really vivid and creative. The character transition between Brock and Venom was multidimensional and done in a very unique way that showcased the individualism between the two. Hardy did a wonderful job portraying the double role and bringing both characters to life in such a self-defining manner. Everything with this movie fell into place, the score, supporting actors and the visual representation worked well. I’m looking forward to seeing Hardy reprise this role in the near future. I want to know more about Venom.

Overall this movie is a must-see, a new villain is introduced which will be portrayed by the great Woody Harrelson (Cletus Kasady). The complexity and depth that he puts into his acting will be much anticipated in the Venom sequel.

I gave this movie 5 stars!

Wonderwoman poster

Wonder Woman directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine tells the origin story of how Wonder Woman came to be. The fast paced superhero film opened with Diana (Wonder Woman) living as a child within the magical world of the Amazon. Living within a community of strong Amazonian warrior women, Diana is first sheltered by her mother and the others. Her will to fight and be strong resonates within her as her aunt tries to bring out that inner strength. Under the direction of her aunt, she trains to prepare to fight the ultimate enemy until she is ready.

Diana’s world is turned upside down when she meets a mysterious stranger that nearly drowns in the Amazonian waters. Her journey of strength, self-discovery and love follows her as she travels to early 1900’s England.

I really enjoyed watching Wonder Woman, I absolutely loved Gal Gadot in the starring role. I was very impressed with her when I first saw her in the Batman vs Superman film. The time sequences of the Amazonian warriors was very good. I actually wished that the entire film took place in that world. Once she crossed over to the early 1900s, I really didn’t care for that time period, so it was hard for me to get past the setting, but I knew that the director was trying to take us back to a place where we and Bruce Wayne first saw her. The film does a nice job in explaining her origins. Now I am interested in seeing what the future holds for Wonder Woman.

The special effects were infused nicely and didn’t get lost in the film. The character chemistry worked well, but the score wasn’t memorable. The costumes were great and I loved the way Gal looked in the updated version of her costume. I know it will be a hit at New York Comic Con!!!

This is a good movie and you will enjoy the action and excitement that it will bring!!

I gave this movie 4 stars!!

fantastic-beasts-poster1

Fantastic Beasts directed by David Yates and starring Eddie Redmayne follows the story of a young wizard, Newt Scamander, as he explores the City of New York and the underground world of magic. Newt Scamander is the author of the book Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, the same book that Harry reads at Hogwarts seventy years after these events. Newt Scamander finds himself in a world of trouble as some of his creatures have escaped his magical suitcase.  As Newt tries to finds the creatures, he also tries the keep the City safe from magic being exposed to non-magical beings.

The action packed fantasy adventure was exciting, and everything you would expect from a Harry Potter franchise film. There was a lot going on with multiple story lines but I still felt as though there was a clear direction in where the story was going. There were surprises at every corner and every moment was filled with thrilling elements. Eddie Redmayne displayed a soft spirited persona and made me smile almost every time he was in a new scene. Eddie’s character added a freshness to the story and created new elements to the Wizarding World.

The creatures were interesting in appearance and the concept of Newt being able to go deep inside the suitcase, to a whole new world was spectacular. The special effects were impressive and the magical elements were enthralling. The time period was authentic in its presentation and the supporting cast all added to the storytelling process.

Overall the movie is a must see. You will be enchanted throughout the entire film.

Last night’s episode of Breaking Bad wrapped up the five season ground breaking show that follows a cancer stricken chemistry teacher as he ventures in a world of cooking and dealing the drug methamphetamine.

Walter White is on the verge of ending this chapter of his life as he attempts to tie up all of the loose ends involving his drug empire.
The finale had its highs and lows, but still didn’t disappoint me. The build up of events leading to the final scene were interesting. Lydia’s demise was classic BB and made me root for Walt even more.
The final scene where Walt goes to negotiate a deal with Todd and his Uncle is epic. He saves Jesse and kills everyone that was a threat to him and his family. The excitement is intense!
Walt tries to get Jessie to kill him,but Jesse refuses.
Walt quickly realizes that he has been shot and accepts his fate to die. He and Jesse exchange glances after Walt ends a phone call to tell Lydia that he poisoned her.
They share a moment of emotion then Jesse drives away. Walt wanders into the meth lab and it is there, where he dies.
I finally caught up with watching the show over the summer, and they had me before the first episode ended. I hate to see the series end and I hope that there will be a spinoff movie in the future. I look forward to “You Better Call Saul” once AMC officially begins production on that project.
Congrats to AMC and the cast and crew of Breaking Bad!!!
Happy Monday!

What can I say? In the beginning I wasn’t a fan of the Showtime hit drama series Dexter, but the moment I saw the first 5 minutes of season 1, episode 1, I was hooked.
Dexter Morgan played by the talented and creative Michael C. Hall tells the story about a Miami Metro Homicide Blood Spatter Analyst, that just so happens to be a notorious serial killer.
This has truly been the summer of Dexter for me and my husband as we are now caught up on the series, thanks to On Demand.
What can I say? Dexter has been through a lot since he was 3, witnessing his mother’s murder, started his killing rampage at a very young age.
Clearly disturbed, he manages to lead somewhat of a normal life in the day, and once night falls his “Dark Passenger” lives vicariously though him as he kills only people that meet the criteria of his code.
What is it about Dexter that is so darn appealing? As I watch the final season?, I just can’t answer that in one word, but there is something about him that is very likable, and intriguing. He is honest with himself, and is fully aware that is he is a “monster,” but I think for me, it is his humor, mysteriousness, and quirky behavior that draws me into him as a character.
Based on the bestselling book Darkly Dreaming Dexter, I started reading the first book and found myself comparing the book to the show. It’s nice to know that the writers at Showtime are pretty much staying true to the author Jeff Lindsey’s work.
The show is a masterpiece and I can’t believe this may be the final season.
Happy Viewing

My debut, angel vampire fantasy novel Swept into the Darkness was re-edited. Some basic corrections were made, and also there are some changes to the lay out of the book, but those changes don’t take away from the story.

The book is in the process of being published. The paperback and eBook will be available within the following weeks. The actual date will be announced soon.

The process of re-editing was more intense than the first, second and third round of edits. There were parts of the story that were a better fit in other places, so there were times when whole sections had to be changed and put elsewhere.

It was a pleasure to work with my editor Dana, recommended by my tour hosts at Promotional Book Tours. She was very professional and always looked for my input and respected my work.

I will start the summer with a book tour hosted by Promotional book tours. The tour will begin July 5th and last two weeks. The tour will feature my book on various blogs, have book excerpts, and feature book reviews. The prize I am offering will be a $25.00 Amazon gift card.
I will also host a goodreads contest and giveaway which I will offer signed copies of my re-released book.

Other book promotions will be offered this summer and as soon as they develop further, I will announce them.
Happy Reading and Writing

The A&E Horror series Bates Motel starring Freddie Highmore is the prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.
The show is very interesting and shows the growing psychotic relationship between Norman and his mother Norma.

Bates Motel opens with the mysterious death of Norman’s father, and Norman discovering his body. Distraught and shocked Norman and Norma try to move past it by starting fresh, and moving to a new town. Norma purchases the Seafair Motel in hopes of building a successful business and making a good life for her son. Before they even have a chance to settle in, they are confronted by the previous owner of the property. Upset that he lost his home and business he breaks onto the house one night, attacks and rapes Norma. Norman walks in and discovers his mom is hurt. He knocks out Keith Summers and Norma stabbs him several times.
Determined to keep the murder a secret Norma and Norman disposes his body.
This murder and secret is the beginning of a chain of events that lead Norman and Norma on a downward spiral into the pit of darkness.

The show is exciting and has some very interesting storylines. The introduction of an older brother is fresh to the Psycho theme in addition to Norman’s blackouts.
I really don’t have too many complaints concerning this show except for the time period. The time period can be very confusing. The house and style of the show is presented in a way that is authentic to the time the original takes place, then is interrupted by the introduction of modern technology.
Norman and his mother dress and act like they are from the 50’s and 60’s. Then the second they take out a cell phone or go on the computer, it takes away from the authenticity of Hitchcock’s legacy.
Bates Motel is a great show and shows great promise. The characters have good on screen chemistry and I love the way the writers are developing the relationship between Norman and his mother.

Everything has been so crazy lately.  But crazy in a good way.  I am moving along with my final rounds of edits of my debut novel Swept into the Darkness.  I am working on my final chapters and then finally I will be ready to send it to my editor.  I am going over the book with a fine tooth comb so that I can give her a clean manuscript without her having to do too much editing.  I am so excited to be at this point in my work.  I am also more than half way done with book two Swept into Revenge.  I completed my press release and will be ready to officially send it very soon.  I really see that publishing your own work comes with a long list of responsibilities especially if you are taking it as a serious new career move like me.  The list makes me even more motivated and focused on what I really want as a published author.  My husband and I found out that we are having a baby boy, which excites me greatly, so I have also been busy with making plans and getting myself more organized for the baby.  I havent seen any other good movies lately but I think within the next week I will make it to the theater.  I am still reading History is Wrong.  It’s taking me a while but I find it hard to read at night sometimes, I’ve been so tired that by the time my head hits the pillow I am out.  Some times I don’t even realize I dozed off until I hear the book fall to the floor.  Lol and sorry for all the “I’s”

Happy reading and writing!!!!!
