Noah starring Russell Crowe and directed by Darren Aronofksy was a complete disappointment to the epic Bible story. Noah is chosen by God to complete a great task, to build an ark to save the animals, (and the human race, or so I thought.)The Bible states that Noah and his family was chosen because they were good people and didn’t give in to the sins of the world.
This movie took that whole idea and concept away from the original story. I think everything went wrong for this movie, starting with Noah’s son’s Sham, Ham and Jabath. All of which were young boys and not men. In the bible they are men and already have wives.
Sham ends up with the adoptive daughter which means that she is Sham’s non blood related sister,(a girl who Noah saves from being attacked, then raises her as his own.)
Then there is this whole war that is started by a villain, supposedly a descendent of Cain, Tubal-cain, played by Ray Winestone. Viewed as a king by the people, he demands to be saved and uses his army to wage war against Noah so he can take the ark. Noah’s family is protected by fallen angels called Watchers.
The animals began to board the ark. The rains begin and Noah soon has a fallout with Ham as he looses a woman that he wanted to go with him.
lla played by Emma Watson is impregnated by Sham, not realizing it until they’ve spent weeks in the ark. The evil villain escapes the flood as he secretly boarded the ark during the attack.
Noah’s family believes that they will have a chance to restart civilization, but Noah says the sin of the world will end with his family. Once he realizes that lla is pregnant, he plots to kill the baby so that he can uphold god’s plan. The family is outraged and the young couple plan to escape the ark.
Their plan fails as Noah torches their little boat and the stress of that situation begins the onset of labor.
The Villain uses Noah’s son as a ploy to influence Ham so he can kill his father. Tubal-cain wants to got Noah out-of-the-way,so that he can be the ruler of the people. Once the ark lands, and the doves seek a place to start over, a fight breaks out just as Noah discovers that the ark has been invaded by evil. The son defends his father and Tubal-cain is killed on the ark.
Twins are born on the ark and Noah can not bear to murder the innocent babies. They start a new life and the new earth is born.
Every time a new scene opened, the more I disliked this movie. I don’t understand the reason why the writers would change the story to such a degree that makes it disturbing.
The villain was added for dramatic reasons. The purpose for Emma Watson’s character was pointless and the storyline centered around her was inappropriate. Murder in the new world, killing babies, are all things that contradict the story in so many ways.
I grew up reading about Noah and the flood, and I just can’t express enough, how disappointed I was. They even added Noah’s grandfather Methuselah portrayed by Anthony Hopkins. The character presented could have been introduced better.
The special effects were good, but the story telling was just so bad. I did find myself wanting an even more detailed back-story on the watchers. That could have been developed better.
This role was not fitting for the cast, with the exception of Hopkins, and where did Noah find clippers to get his head shaved? Really?
I gave this movie 2 stars, not a box office must see.

The Walking Dead Mid Season Premier

The Walking Dead, mid season premier didn’t have me on the edge of my seat like the finale did. Even though I was so excited to experience the journey with Rick and Carl, I couldn’t help but feel that the episode was pretty much uneventful.
I must admit that there were some very important discoveries made when it came to Michone. We learned a little more about her past and saw more of a vulnerability to her character, which was refreshing to see.
Rick suffers from some potentially life threatening injuries when he had his battle with the governor. As he and Carl try to manage to pick up the pieces after the war, the emotional war of battling loss and the father and son relationship they had, meets even more challenges.
They move on foot scavenging for the basic necessities of life. Carl makes an attempt to try to protect his father by assuming a leadership role, but Rick does his best to try to keep Carl’s childhood innocence alive.
I was so excited to see what had happened to everyone else that left the prison, but unfortunately the episode on focused on Rick, Carl, and Michone.
Rick’s injuries soon get the best of him and he slips into a coma. At this point I wasn’t really nervous for him because Rick has been going nonstop since Atlanta. His body just shut down, and after everything he has been through, he is after all-human.
Rick needed to rest, and was in desperate need of medical attention.
An angered and frightened Carl feels that he is ready to let his father go, and states that he can survive alone and tells Rick that he can die. He ventures off on his own to find food in a neighboring home and quickly faces a Walker scare that almost gets him killed.
Carl’s bravery is unprecedented. He retreats back to where Rick is and soon believes that Rick will die. A torn Carl tries to handle the situation and Rick slowly comes out of his coma.
Michone follows the trail left by Rick and Carl, as she manages to begin her own journey alone. Her emotions go awry as she reminisces over the life she once had and copes with what life has become. While she pushes on, she eventually finds her way back on the steps of the house where Rick and Carl are.
Predictions:
I think that Michone will take care of Rick, to help him get back on his feet. Now that we know that Michone was a mother, her closeness with Carl is better understood. She had a son and knows what’s it’s like to have that mother-son bond. Michone will fall in love with Carl and Rick and with the feeling and ideas of what family represents. Michone is going to give the Grimes boys a sense of family again. Once she walks back in their lives her presence will give them hope to find the others.
I’m so curious to find out where the second half of this season will take fans.
Episode Bonus: The opening scene, where Michone goes back to the prison to find Hershel as a Walker and surprisingly all that is left is his head. I thought that was a great way for fans to officially say goodbye to Hershel.
Happy Reading

The Walking Dead Rant: It’s a Sorrowful Life

The Walking Dead Rant
Last night’s episode of The Walking Dead was absolutely mind blowing!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Rick has a meeting scheduled with The Governor and has been pondering over the deal that The Governor has offered, Surrendering Michone. At first Rick decides to offer Michone but is not sure if that is the right thing to do. He confides in Daryl which he can trust, but then he also confides in Merl, which was a huge mistake. Meanwhile Glen has a moment with Hershal and asks him for his blessing to marry Maggie. Hershal is proud and happy that his daughter has found love despite the fact that the world is different. He is pleased that his faith, values and morals have impacted his daughters in such a way that the condition of world does not change what they believe in. Carol has some time to talk with Merl and his brother on two separate occasions. Merl wanders off into the prison and Daryl stumbles up on him. They talk about what he did to Glen and Daryl tries to suggest ways that Merl can try to patch up things between Glen and Maggie. Merl says something very interesting. “Your people look as me as if I am the scum of the earth.” They hate Merl and everything that he represents.
Daryl tries to make things right between him and his brother but the relationship they once had does not exist anymore. Daryl wants his brother to change but Merl knows that change and acceptance into Rick group is not realistic. Merl walks away from his brother and soon lures Michone into a trap within the prison.
Rick decides to not offer Michone to The Governor and knows that what The Governor is asking for is wrong. Rick approaches the group and tells them what The Governor offered him.
It does not take long for Rick to realize that Michone and Merl are gone. Merl takes it into his own hands and makes an attempt to deliver Michone to The Governor but he has is own agenda in mind. They have a very interesting conversation in a car that Merl retrieves on the street near a bar, after a major zombie attack that they barely escaped from.
Michone does her best to talk Merl out of giving her up to The Governor. He opens up to her in a way that only Merl can considering his personality. For a moment I thought that they were going to have a quickie, when he cut her hands free. He surprisingly lets Michone go, says that he has to do something alone and goes back to that bar to have a drink. I should known then…
Daryl searches for his brother and runs into Michone on the road. They have words he asks her if she killed him. She shakes her head no. I wish this woman would be more verbal. It only would have taken her a second to tell Daryl that he was driving a car.
Merl lures a group of walkers towards the area where Rick and The Governor met before. The guys from Woodbury are all in place ready to meet Rick but Merl goes there armed instead. He slithers around shooting a couple of people. The walkers create a nice diversion as Merl makes his way into the abandoned building. He has The Governor in plain sight aiming for his head. He fires and Ben takes the bullet for Philip. Walkers attack and Merl is quickly ambushed. The Governor wastes no time as he beats Merl down but Merl gets in a few good blows before he is shot in the chest.
Daryl tracks his brother and ends up in the meeting area after the brawl. He shoots a walker with his crossbow and notices another walker. The walker lifts his head and it’s Merl!! Shocked, hurt and dismayed Daryl falls to his knees crying. He kills walker Merl and trembles from the pain of loosing his brother.
During Rick’s talk with the group he tells them that are a team,a family and that they can stay and fight or pack up and leave. I think that they are going to leave and by the time Woodbury attacks they will be gone.
I started reading the comic books and I must admit that I was never really into comics until The Walking Dead came along. I am completely hooked and even though it is different I still love the books. I am on Book four and can’t wait to see what is going to happen. The Governor has yet to be introduced and Michone has just surfaced.
The season finale of the show is expected to be very exciting and I am looking forward to seeing what next season has offer. I am so happy the Merl is finally dead and out of the way. He has been nothing but trouble since the beginning and just slows down Rick’s group. He was not going to survive in Rick’s group anyway. His personality was better suited for someone like The Governor, that is why he thrived and did so well in Woodbury. I hope that his baby brother grieves and moves on without any breakdowns, I know that he always wanted his brother to do right and be right. Daryl loved Merl more than Merl could ever love anyone. The one thing good I can say about Merl is that he did show a deep loyalty toward his brother.
All you Walker Fans out there this is LaTaeya embracing something new,

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone: Movie Review

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Movie Review
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone directed by Don Scardino, known for directing many popular television shows including 30 Rock, stars Steve Carell and follows the story of a middle aged Las Vegas Magician as he struggles to remain one of the top magicians in Sin City.
Wonderstone and his partner/best friend Anton Marvelton played by Steve Buscemi have had an act based at Balleys hotel and Casino for over ten years. Stuck in their old school magician ways, their careers and friendship is put to the test when fellow magician and rival Steve Gray portrayed by Jim Carrey attempts to show the world a fresh new form of creating illusions.
The team of magicians try to keep up with the competition by creating a stunt that hopefully will boast ticket sales, But Burt and Anton soon part ways when the idea of the new stunt goes terribly wrong and Anton gets hurt.
Burt struggles to maintain the show on his own, but the show sinks without his partner. As a result of the act loosing money Burt is fired. Unable to properly adjust, Burt is faced with living in a motel with accommodations that do not suit him.
During his travels and transition he meets the king of magic and learns that throughout the years he has lost his passion for the art of magic.
As realizes that the passion he once had can be regained, he reconstitutes his friendships and opens himself up to new ideas.
The movie was funny but still was not 40 Year Old Virgin funny. That is what I was expecting. Jim Carry’s character was very funny and it was nice to see him back on the screen doing what he loves. Carrell and Buscemi were a great team and had great chemistry.
I give this movie 3 stars and recommend it to anyone that wants to laugh and enjoys the combination of all actors.

Paranormal Activity 4 Movie Review

Paranormal Activity 4 directed by Henry Joost and starring Katie Featherston takes place five years after Katie kills her family and kidnaps her nephew baby Hunter. Hunter now known as Robbie, along with Katie are the new residents of a neighborhood in Nevada. The moment Katie and Robbie move in across the street, Alice the teen that notices that Robbie is strange begins to experience paranormal events in her home.
The subtle noises in the night become elevated when Robbie is forced to stay a few days with Alice and her family. Her friend Ben encourages Alice to video record all the strange activity. Alice feels that Robbie is a bad influence on her brother Wyatt. After viewing the tapes of recorded footage the teen is convinced that something maybe after her and her brother. Alice ties to confront her mother about her findings, but her mother continues to not listen and ignore the signs.
Alice eventually discovers that Robbie may be linked to a coven of witches and a demonic force. By the time she learns this information it is too late for her and her family.
The fast moving movie really was pointless and did not answer any of the questions franchise fans want to know concerning Katie and Kristi’s past that involve the demonic creature. The movie was done the same way as the others. A bump here, a crash there, then suddenly Katie pops into the home and randomly kills everyone. Katie makes a statement at the end of movie telling the possessed Wyatt that “he will be ready soon.”
For those of you who still plan to see the movie, I will not give any more away, but to tell you the truth, I should have gone to see Taken 2, which I am three weeks late seeing. I am not going to go over special effects or score, because this movie did not bring anything new to the franchise at all. This movie should have gone straight to DVD and Netflix. I cannot believe that the production company wasted money to release a movie like this. I give Paranormal Activity 4 two stars. I hope they do not make another one for next Halloween.
As a horror fan, I was disappointed and screamed only once.
Happy Reading!!

How can a person be caught in a web of negativity? There are so many things that can go on in a person’s life that can contribute to that. The web is life and the things that make up life. The negative aspects are obviously very overwhelming and vary in capacity. What makes the whole thing even more difficult is the fact that you are stuck within a realm that is consistently holding you back mentally, spiritually and physically. Sometimes you may feel like it is impossible to move forward or live up to the greatness that you are supposed to be and live. Many people may say “just remove that negativity from your life” But I say that it is not that simple. It takes time, patience and planning. You must endure or tolerate certain negative aspects in your life so you can begin to set up the necessary building blocks to take one step at a time to move in the direction of the path you want to take. The direction of positive change and high potential. The whole idea is a process on its own but the end result will be good no matter how far away you think the journey is. So no matter how tight my legs are tangled in the web, I will always manage to wiggle free, and embrace my creativity turning the web of negativity into weaves of positiveness and great success by overcoming my challenges and rising above it all.

The Possession Movie Preview (Fall Preview#2)

The second movie within my fall preview series is a film called The Possession. Produced by Sam Raimi and Ghost House Pictures this movie follows the true story of a family experiencing demonic possession. When a little girl becomes crazy obsessed with a small-sized wooden box that she purchased from a local garage sale, life in the home starts to get unsettling. As Em’s obsession for the box grows, her behavior becomes more peculiar with time. The haunting activity within the home is indeed disturbing. Em’s parents do everything they can to seek answers as they make an attempt to save their daughter from the evil spirit that inhabits her soul.
I know some of you may say ” Not another demonic possession movie!” but really as a true horror fan, for me I can not get enough of these type of horror movies. Always excited about what Raimi produces creatively, I feel that this movie is going to do well for opening weekend. Starring Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffery Dean Morgan, Raimi will no doubt fill seats in theaters in anticipation for this film. I am looking forward to seeing some classic Raimi represented in the film and hope that this makes a lot of noise at the box office. The movie is expected to open in theaters August 31st.
Check out the trailer below, Enjoy!!

I checked out my sources and it seems like this fall and winter is going to be great season for new movies. There are so many good movies to be released that I decided to do a series of movie previews on my site. As the summer officially comes to a close I get geared up for the fall and expect a nice array of horror flicks to be released in theaters and on DVD. A few movies to put you in the scary mood are first and foremost a movie called The Apparition, starring some familiar faces from Twilight, Harry Potter and Captain America: The First Avenger. This movie tells an interesting story about a group of students that set out to prove that supernatural and paranormal events can occur if you create them in your mind and believe in the idea that you created. Check out the trailer below. This movie is to be released August 24th. Just by watching the trailer I am sold on the whole idea and really hope that it does a decent job in theaters. For those die-hard horror fans that appreciate the genre, I think that you will give it a shot and be happy that you did. Enjoy the trailer and Happy Reading and Writing!! L.L

Well Summer is still here, which is a good thing, but I will be excited for the fall to arrive so I can resume with my book promotion, start the process of publishing the paperback version of Swept into the Darkness, the first book in my Chronicles of the Celestial series. After the the release of the paperback I will be doing everything that comes with the release of a new book. I did finish writing the second book in the series which is now titled Swept into Betrayal. There were some major changes that I made with some of the characters and events so the name change fits into what is going on with the storyline. I found a few new prospects when it comes to book promotion, and I plan on using all the tools I can get my hands on to get the word out. Now It is about increasing book sales. The book is indeed a great and exciting read and there is no reason why readers would not fall in love with the series. I am excited to start plans with the upcoming tour as well. I did some reasearch and noticed that there are many good companies willing to host my tour. As of now though, I have not decided on which company will host my book tour. My book was published in June and there is still just as much work left to do now than ever.
As I continue to recoup from childbirth and settle into motherhood, I learn something new everyday from my baby. As I write this, I have to stop and check on him since I hear him making noise…… It so so nice to finally have my son out in the real world but I must admit it is very hard. Even with lots of help from my dear husband, mother and mother in law I am exhausted beyond words. I don’t know how I am walking at this point. I see the purpose of full-time, live in nannies. I applaud all those that help to take care of babies and children for a living.
Despite everything that has happened over the past few months, and weeks that has brought me complete happiness, being in the house for so long has taken a toll on me. I think it is making me more tired just being inside. The weather is really too hot to take the baby out, so staying in under the Ac is the best option. This is the first summer that I have had to remain indoors for most of the summer. I still have a couple more weeks before I am able to drive again. This last thing I did was see TDKR which was wonderful. It made me appreciate Christian Bale even more as an actor and person after the movie theater tragedy. This weekend I am looking forward to my first glass of wine in almost a year. I know I have been ranting for some time, but I hope that this month I will have the chance to have some freedom and venture off out somewhere else besides the movie theater.
Still Reading Deadlocked. Actually had to stop my evening reading due to my new schedule, but I plan to resume this weekend.
Happy Reading and Writing
